Overview

Camp Wartburg is a ministry of Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois. Founded in 1873, LCFS is a statewide organization that helps more than 20,000 children and families a year through such services as, foster care, adoption, children's residential centers, family counseling and a variety of community-based programs. LCFS is licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services,and accredited by Accreditation of Services for Families and Children.

. . . a year-round retreat center just 20 miles from greater St. Louis! Established as a children's summer camp in the 1960's, Camp Wartburg has been rebuilt and refurbished, making it an ideal site for your next event.
Retreat Houses

In the Upper Village, you'll find comfortable sleeping quarters in the three new retreat houses. Nestled among stately oak trees, each house has two large sleeping rooms linked by a common room that's perfect for small group discussions. These buildings, along with those in our newly renovated Middle Camp Village, are heated and air-conditioned and can accommodate a total of 130 overnight guests.

Your group will enjoy hearty, wholesome meals in Thorburg Hall, which is heated and air-conditioned. Thorburg Hall can be used for lectures and large meetings, or you can hold smaller sessions in the lounge.

The camp's 108 acres offer many ways to relax and have fun. Stroll down country lanes; fish or canoe in the pond; explore the woods, and stream, sit on the deck and enjoy the view;

The Pond cool off in the in-ground pool during the summer months; or enjoy team sports on the athletic field in the Middle Camp.

If your group likes to sightsee, there's plenty to explore nearby. Picturesque Maeystown; historic Ft. Chartres; Illinois Caverns; Cahokia Mounds; or St. Louis. All are within a short driving distance from the camp.

The camp staff can help you plan your retreat program, or you can develop and conduct your own. The choice is yours. Whether it's for a day, overnight, of a weekend, make Camp Wartburg the place for your next meeting. Camp Wartburg is a member of the National Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Association.
